CFD modelling of flow/structure/seabed interactions

This is a group application from a research team that involves about 10 academic staff members and 20 PhD students from two institutions. The team is engaged in both fundamental and applied research in the areas of flow/structure interactions and hydrodynamics. The broad areas of research that the team is involved in include:
1. Hydrodynamic forces on small diameter pipelines laid on natural seabed – investigate hydrodynamic forces and responses of slender structures subject to various loading conditions;
2. Wave/structure interactions for large floating structures – develop new design tools to predict hydrodynamic responses of large floating structures under a wide range of environmental loading conditions;
3. Numerical instability analysis of wake of cylindrical structure to gain fundamental understanding of flow/structure interactions;
4. Flow/structure/seabed interactions – investigate hydrodynamic responses of subsea structures founded on the seabed.
