Acting on Insight: Tips for developing and optimizing scientific applications

Today’s ever advancing technology platforms offer huge potential for completing faster and more advanced work but missing the vital warning signs of inefficient code behaviour will hinder your performance at any scale. Allinea tools are designed to help you get to the root causes of system crashes and bottlenecks quickly and in this training, we will provide hands-on user advice for developing more robust code efficiently at Pawsey Supercomputing Centre. The session will also demonstrate the use of the tools for getting the most out of the compute resources by easily identifying your biggest priorities for optimization across commonly occurring crash, memory and workload balance issues.

This will be a free two-day hands-on training session for only 20 researchers. It will be run by Allinea, and hosted by the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre on 4-5 December.

Allinea is the industry leading providers of code development and performance analysis tools that optimize the efficiency of software for high-performance computing (HPC).

OzViz is a fantastic opportunity for visualisation practitioners, academics and researchers to share hot topics and works-in-progress with peers from around Australia and New Zealand. It is also an opportunity for those working with visualisation technologies to network and see new and emerging uses of the technology. The HIVE is a multi-display, multi-disciplinary space and you are likely to experience a broad range of disciplines represented in the talks.

OzViz rotates between Australian University Visualisation Facilities each year and is now in its 16th year.

The conference focuses on visualisation in its various forms including data visualisation, virtual reality, immersive imaging, simulation, VR/AR/MR/XR, stereoscopic 3D visualisation, and much more.

The event will be held at the Curtin HIVE (Hub for Immersive Visualisation and eResearch) 5-8 December 2017 in cooperation with the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre.

Attendance at the OzViz conference is free for both presenting authors and general attendees. Attendees are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs.

All attendees must register to attend the event via the conference website.

Register via Eventbrite

A separate fee ($100) is payable for the Stereoscopic Imaging Short Course.
