Pawsey Roadshow at Murdoch University

The Pawsey Supercomputing Centre would like to invite you to the Pawsey Roadshow at Murdoch University, an event showcasing services and resources that Pawsey provides to researchers across Australia.
This free event will see researchers presenting their experiences as high-performance computing (HPC) users and how their projects have been impacted by Pawsey’s services and expertise. Staff from Pawsey will also be presenting information about the organisation and answering questions from researchers who would like to take advantage of HPC and related services.
If you are a researcher or student who is interested in high-performance computing or if you want to see if your work can be taken to the next level by using powerful computing resources, we welcome you to come along and meet with Pawsey users and staff.

- 10.35am Past and Future Temperature Extremes and Vegetation in Western Australia project Dr Jatin Kala
The south-west of Western Australia is a region of significant agricultural production as well as a biodiversity hotspot. This talk will showcase the use of PAWSEY resources to assess the impacts of future climate change on cereal crop production, viticulture, and bushfire weather in the region.
- 10.55am Fundamental Understanding of the Role of Singlet Molecular Oxygen in Spontaneous fires. Dr Mohammednoor Altarawneh
Some chemical reactions can occur spontaneously at room temperature, leading to self-heating, ignition and fires that result in loss of life and significant damage to Australian industries. This project will identify these chemical reactions and will develop new technologies to interrupt them to avoid spontaneous fires. It will provide fundamental understanding of the reactions between electronically excited species of oxygen and Carbonaceous fuels, with applications to improved safety in wood, mineral and food industries.
