Student Cluster accepted into SC15

The Pawsey Supercomputing Centre is proud to announce that its Student Cluster team has been accepted into this year’s competition at Supercomputing 2015 in Austin, Texas.

The contest will see teams of 6 undergraduate students compete to build a small cluster from scratch, run and benchmark a variety of scientific applications (including a “mystery” application to be revealed the day of the competition), all while adhering to power constraints.

The team is composed of 5 Murdoch students and 1 ECU student, who will be visiting the Pawsey Centre in coming months as they prepare for the competition.  Supercomputing hardware vendor Cray has generously offered to sponsor the team and will be providing the students with the hardware to build their own cluster.
